This is a very good book that has a mix of economic and anthropology research. The focus is household economics. It has a section on modeling intrahousehold resource allocation, a section, a section on measuring the outcomes of that allocation, and a section on policy analysis. Well worth the money and the time to read!

I am studying from this textbook in preparation for graduate school and to complete my business knowledge, through a local college. This is an outstanding textbook that teaches you everything you need to know about finance. The explanations are clear and the chapter reviews challenging. You'll also learn how to use a financial calculator and you learn the algebra (I'm using an HP 12C emulator I downloaded for the Pocket PC, and I recently purchased an HP 10BII). Chapter eight is the best overview of financial statements I have ever read. Additionally, the clear explanation of standard deviation early in the book has helped me solidify my quantitative abilities. The book is accompanied by a website where you can take practice exams. There are 22 chapters. For complete comprehension, each chapter requires about 15 hours of reading, tasks, and study.

This was a great book. It emphasized accounting history along with the standard principles. In many respects, it is a standard textbook, but quite interesting because of the historical anecdotes included throughout.

I highly recommend this book to those seeking an introduction to communication research methods. This book is creative and well organized. Concepts are explicated with "real studies" and the concepts' definitions are clearly conveyed. The numerous examples highlight the breadth and depth of research in the field of communication studies while helping the reader to answer the "so what" questions about research methods. I enjoy using this book with my undergraduate research methods classes and my students speak favorably about their experience using it.

If I was allowed one book on investing it would be this one - the fact that it seems to be so overlooked is a positive - if it was popular I would be worried - Bottom line is this it is not outdated because the business cycle has not gone away and people dont change - this is confirmed by the line written in the 30's about how ridiculous the prospectus for 'concept' (read: internet in the modern context) shares seem so ludicrous a few years later.

A friend of mine loaned me this book, and he may never get it back... Because it was published in 1988, some of the data has become a bit stale, but the concepts described in this book haven't changed: buy and MEMORIZE it before you start to buy stocks, bonds, CDs, or mutual funds. The book starts simple (definitions, why certain things are considered important) and then clearly works up to the complex (options, commodities, futures). It is simple where it should be simple, and complex where it should be complex--which makes this book both easy to read, and easy to learn from.
